My husband and I began our search for a Rhodesian Ridgeback breeder after out first RR passed away at the age of 14. We have three children, so we knew we had to find a breeder who would accept us wanting to involve our kids in this process. We started by looking at breeders in our area of Gilbert Arizona. Most of them would not let us bring our children to meet the adult dogs. One time we drove all the way to Scottsdale to meet a breeder (with the kids) only to be stood up. We all went home that day feeling sad and thought we would never find the perfect match for us. That was until we met Mary. She made time from the start of the process to get to know me and my family, listen about our history with our first RR and INSISTED that we bring the kids to meet her adult dogs (even before Ella was expecting pups)! Trust me, it was totally worth the 2+ hour drive from Gilbert to Prescott. Trips to see Mary were something we all looked forward too…including my parents who also ended up with a litter mate in the end! After Ella’s puppies were born we couldn’t wait to go and and see them . Mary went over everything prior to our visit to ensure the pups would not be exposed to anything harmful. We had to wear fresh clothes right out of the dryer and also had to remove our shoes upon arriving to Mary’s house. She made sure we all washed our hands and then the fun began! My kids got to sit right in the welping box and snuggle up all of the adorable pups! Mary answered all of our questions and we went home with our hearts full, to wait until our sweet boy could come home with us. We wanted a pet and Mary gave us a few puppies we could choose from. We ended up with Fender. We say he has an “old soul” because he is just as mellow as ever! He has been pretty easy to train (for a ridgie) and loves to snuggle. Mary continues to be there for us. She will answer any training questions and offers up any suggestions that we may need help with. Our litter even has a Facebook page where we can all show pictures and get support from one another. This process has been nothing but positive! Fender is beautiful and has made the perfect addition to our family! Thank you Mary!!
